Four-Wheelers are FUN!
*brushes a hand back and forth through what there is of his hair a couple of times.*
What a rush... And I never even went out of first gear... though that was because my cousin's four-wheeler was an open field one, not an ATV (That is, high power, low torque as compared to lower power but higher torque) and my property that we all were riding it on is mostly trees and banks and tall grass... good for ATVs, not so good for Quad Bikes.
Took me a bit to figure out how to get it going without stalling it out (but I still learned faster than my mother did!), and also a while to figure out how to do tighter turns (next to my cousin, I was doing the tightest turns) - which, by the way, you clench your legs - but I was having fun!
Except for the fact that my mother thought it would be funny to drive by within a foot of Jessica and I when we were leaning against a bank (the speed wasn't the problem, it was the distance) and one time I climbed up a bank to get a better view of Jessica riding it... and sat on an anthill, I had a good time.
I wouldn't mind having something like it myself. An ATV, though, not a Quad.

Hm...
In the G.I. Joe comics, there's an actual character named G.I. Joe. But I can't remember seeing him in any of the cartoons beyond the original. What happened?

He never appeared in the cartoons, that's why. Any of the cartoons, not even the original miniseries from '84.
That's because the '64 G.I. Joe was just... G.I. Joe, that was his name. General (2nd. Lt.) Joseph Colton, codename "G.I. Joe" wasn't created until the thirtieth anniversary of G.I. Joe, finally giving the Real American Hero a filename and backstory.
And, unfortunately, by 1994, the cartoon had gone off the air. But Colton did make appearances in some of the later issues of the Marvel comic and in some issues of the Devil's Due comic.
