J.T., sometimes you amaze me..... (nicely done.) Just wait until I get CorelDraw or Photoshop or something... heh, I just realized I used the "**==" that J.T. commonly uses on my first post here, and I'd just like to apologize........ Eh, it's okay - I nicked it from Y!IM in the first place.

Just thought of something. There's been an interesting change in the trend for Red Rangers (in Super Sentai, mainly) over the years -
Originally, it was usually the person who would become Red and the commander were the only survivors of an attack by the villians of the series on some kind of defense unit. (Occasionally there were exceptions - Takeru/Red Mask, who was an F-1 racer that fell in love with Mio/Princess Ial (who was part of the royal family of the series villians, the Royal Underground Empire Tube. until she turned against them (because of him, partly) and was taken prisoner by them) and joined Maskman to rescue her.)
Lately, however, and this is what you usually see in Power Rangers, is the Red Ranger is a brash, arrogant outsider, usually often the last to be recruited or to accept their status as a Ranger.

Glad that you don't think I'm some thief....anyways, I've always wondered how I still have done many custom action figures, and yet I haven't done one of me......

"Amateurs borrow, but professionals steal." -- Gen. George Smith Patton, Jr., "Fox at the Front" by Douglas Niles and Michael Dobson. (If you enjoy Alternate Histories, you'll like this one and it's precursor "Fox on the Rhine".)
(Its been said other ways by other people in other media, but that's the one I prefer.)

If death is our ultimate destiny, why do we fear it? Just a thought.

Because we've been programmed by media, political, religous and society figures to fear it and thus we forget;
"Death is not the end of this adventure, but the beginning of the next one." -- J.T. Magnus, 2007
People talk about the horrors of war, but what weapon has a man invented that even approaches in cruelty some of the commoner diseases? 'Natural' death, almost by defintion, means something slow, smelly and painful. - George Orwell, "How The Poor Die"
Man transcends death by finding meaning for his life...What man really fears is not so much extinction, but extinction with insignificance. - Beckar
And with that, I've reached my limit of deep thought for the day, so I leave you with this...
"To die would be a grand adventure!" -- Peter Pan, 'Hook' "Perhaps today IS a good day to die!" -- Worf, 'Star Trek: First Contact' (Though appearantly it goes back to "Billy Jack" {1971} and even further as part of Native American culture...)

"Dude, the song's about sex, okay?"
"What do you mean 'The song's about sex'? The song's about dying young."
"No, you moron, that's a line the guy's using to get his girlfriend to sleep with him. I'll break it down for ya; 'Come out, Virginia. Don't let me wait. You Catholic girls start much too late, Oh, but sooner or later, it comes down to fate. I might as well be the one.'
She's gonna lose her virginity to someone, someday anyway, so he's saying that she might as well give it up to him."
"Bullshit."
"'Well, they showed you a statue, told you to pray. They built you a temple and locked you away, Oh, but they never told you the price that you pay For things that you might have done.'
The statues of the Virgin Mary that they always pray to for forgiveness - usually for things they haven't really done wrong."
"You're making this shit up."
"'You might've heard I run with a dangerous crowd. We ain't too pretty. We ain't too proud. We might be laughing a bit too loud, Oh, but that never hurt no one.'
She's told him that he runs with a bad crowd and he's telling her that they might not look great, they might not act great, but they've never really hurt anyone, all they do is have some fun."
"When was the last time you had a CAT-scan?"
"'So come on, Virginia, show me a sign, Send up a signal. I'll throw you a line. The stained-glass curtain you're hiding behind Never lets in the sun'
She can stay in her room like a good girl or come out into the world with him - all she's got to do is show him that she wants to."
"How much longer until your voice give out and you shut the hell up?"
"'You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation. You got a brand new soul Mmmmm, and a cross of gold, But, Virginia, they didn't give you quite enough information. You didn't count on me When you were counting on your rosary.'
She got all this stuff on her confirmation, which involves counting rosary beads, but when she was doing that she wasn't expecting to come across him."
"If you don't shut up I'm gonna flip out, morph and kill you."
"'You say your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation. Ohh,she never cared for me, Did she ever say a prayer for me?'
Now her excuse is that her mother told her it was wrong. He's responding that for all the looking down on him her mother does, did the woman ever do anything to help him?"
"Save me, Superman!"
"Then we come back to the first verse repeated, she's given all these reasons why she can't, he's given all these reasons why she can and now he's asking her again to sleep with him."
"That's IT! For the good of the world, you must be stopped, evil one! DARKNESS, RELEASE!"

J.T....
For one thing, that whole spiel was somethng that occurred to me while I was running my route and listening to my Billy Joel CD. The other thing is that I love the reversal of JON calling one of US 'evil' and saying that 'for the good of the world' they must be stopped.
On a sidenote, does my reasoning in regards to the song make any sense?

Plus, the scene can help to foreshadow later on in the series...
