Future Boy (Working Title):
In the year 2007, the United states launches a last-ditch effort to eliminate Middle-Eastern terrorists. This event is known as the Great Half-War, because the terrorists surrendered after a period of nonstop bombing - less than half the time Operation: Iraqi Freedom lasted - that left almost all of the Middle-East in ruins and burned up the region's oil supplies. In the wake of the Half War, the world's political and economical super-powers have to rely on alternative energy sources and rapidly depleting oil reserves.
Eleven years later, the world's top scientists produce and patent Regulated Alternative Energy, or RAE (pronounced, "RAY"), a secret, self-replenishing source of power. Companies begin retro-fitting existing technology with RAE cores, and creating new ways to use this "miracle" power.
Nineteen years pass since the Great Half-War. The U.N., currently consisting only of the U.S., the European Union, Russia, China, South Africa and Japan, writes up a treaty to share the RAE technology with the still ruinous Middle East - if they vow never to attack each other or any other country. To aid in the implementing the technology, young geniuses, called "artisans," are sent to the countries. The artisans create machines to demonstrate RAE's versatility, collect the contracts, and aid engineers in installing RAE cores in the power plants of major cities. Many happily accept the U.N.'s help. Some, however, reject the U.N. and RAE, going so far as destroying core plants and killing artisans. To combat this, a special artisan agent is sent in, codenamed: "Future Boy."
