Kyoko Hashiba is Rowen/Touma’s cousin on his father’s side from Okinawa. Prior to the Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, she was one of very few people he could talk to. Despite being younger than he, Kyoko often takes the older sister role with Rowen/Touma, especially since her uncle Genichirou is at best absent minded and at worst neglectful of his son and her aunt Michiro is often away on work. She’s never been a shy, retiring type and is not afraid to say what she thinks, especially when that is one of the few things to penetrate Rowen/Touma’s self-inflicted fog.
Due to Rowen/Touma’s influence she likes history and astronomy, though her first love is astrology. Due to her scientifically minded family on her father’s side she does not tolerate stupidity in any form. Also due to her family, she developed a sense of fearlessness few females can match.
She is not a typical Japanese girl in that she is not reserved and has several tattoos. Due to her spine she also does not think before she thinks. Although she is bubbly bordering on hyperactive she is capable of seriousness.
She and Rowen/Touma keep in touch through letters and the occasional phone call. Due to his parents frequently being MIA, she is, in effect, Rowen/Touma’s only family.
