- ...You watch a cop show on TV (Cops, Hot Pursuit, World's Deadliest Police Chases, etc...) and when the different segments reach their conclusions all you can think is "My God, that's gonna be a lot of paperwork."

- ...or when your repetoir of past costumes includes Spider-Man (complete with a web-shield made from a spiderweb decoration), Dyne from FF7, a homocidal maniac who drinks his victims' blood (the costume was street clothes and a jug of fruit punch 'blood'), and the spirit of the night (or a modern-day ninja, really it could have gone either way)
[/li][li] ... or a Tigra-style cat-girl, for me.[/color][/li][/ul] You know what would be a funny Anime-meets-RL fic? Characters from an anime - let's say Tenchi Muyo - end up in a real life anime convention... And everyone is commenting on how fake their costumes look.

- You might be Literati if you, or anyone you know has ever chanted things like "Somebody's gonna die a slow and painful death" in a sing-song voice.
(J.T.'s reading a Ranma 1/2 fanfic and Akane just found out the truth about Ryoga and P-Chan.)

- ...You give yourself headaches writing a story idea down.
In the original Random Title Thread over in the Cell, the title one of the other inmates put forth was "Hitsuzen" - which means inevitability - this was my story idea in response to it Their response upon reading it was "That fits perfectly with predestination paradox, where whatever event has happened was meant to happen."

- ...you've ever took yourself by surprise with a train of thought.
I was reading an Adam-12/Emergency crossover, one of the lines at the end was "Take me home." My (warped) mind popped in with a line from 'Top Gun', "Goose, you big stud! Take me to bed or lose me forever!" Then it went a step further, connecting the line to Galaxy Ranger Shane 'Goose' Gooseman from "Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers". I ended up having to take a moment to recover when I realized what my brain had done.

- ...you've ever quoted the Evil Overlord List or Evil Overlord List (Literati Edition) while watching a movie.
"Return of the King" was on and when it reached the point where Eowyn was fighting the Witch-King, I quoted the original Evil Overlord List; "My Legions of Terror will be an equal-opportunity employer. Conversely, when it is prophesied that no man can defeat me, I will keep in mind the increasing number of non-traditional gender roles."

- ...You suddenly realize that you're sounding like one of your friends when explaining something about their area of interest to someone.
My mother's flipping between "A Diva's Christmas Carol" and "Return of the King" and commented about 'blossoms' and I explained that they were probably leaves from the White Tree, then started in with a very Amanda-esque lecture on the history of the White Tree being the symbol of man from Gondor back to the Kingdom before it was broken and even on to Numenor...

- You might be Literati if... people around you start talking about the 12-21-2021 Mayan and Aztec-calendar based ending of the world theory and you remark that it won't be the end of the world, just the aliens' 5000-year taco run.

I feel proud to have affected you so. ^_^ - You might be Literati if... you have read or written a 500 page fic satire of the fallacies of bureaucracy and corruption in government that is thinly disguised as a spoof of Sailor Moon...
- ... that you are trying to turn into a comic series...
- ... by running the idea past the crappiest manga publishing company in North America (TokyoPop).
I believe I have spoken about Toy Master Kojima here before?
