15. Women in trouble usually turn out to work for the villian you're fighting and the 'trouble' turns out to have been a way to get them close to you so they could turn on you at the right (or wrong, depending on your point of view) moment.
16. Conversely, males in trouble will complain about not having needed your help and that they're just tagging along because they have nothing better to do, but they will almost always turn out to be the ones who are the most loyal and save you from certain death - usually something caused by that 'helpless damsel' you had saved earlier.

17. Always remember that while you may not want to hurt them, they don't feel the same about you.

18: If you have two enemies who believe that what they are doing is right and what the other is doing is evil, assume that they are right about each other and destroy them both.

19. Never assume that the wise old grandfather-figure is always right and good or that the evil overlord with a hidden agenda is always wrong and evil.
(Pet peeve of mine, really. X-Men, Harry Potter, etc - always the same.
Take X-Men (comics), Xavier ignored his wife and wondered why she left him, had a relationship with his nurse and then - when SHE tried to leave - attempted to do a little brain-changing, sent one of his first students to spy on a group he KNEW would find her out just so that her suppressed personality could get close to the Inner Circle, let his students think he was disabled and/or dead AT LEAST three DIFFERENT times...
And let's not forget that anyone who doesn't want to follow his program immediately gets classifed as an 'Evil Mutant', and his habit of kicking people off his X-teams for making their own decisions.
Erik on the other hand, was doing what he did so that no children would have to go through the same horrors he had, when he found out his children were alive he went out of his way to protect them and be part of their lives (even if as their leader and not their father, since he never told them he was until years later), he usually forgives his followers (how many times has Mystique tried to kill him and take over and he STILL considers him one of his trusted lieutenants)...
And he takes EVERYONE - a fat man from a circus, a human frog, even a gambling-addicted telepath. (Blob, Toad and Mastermind, respectively.)
Take the Savage Land for that matter, Magento considered it under his protection as the 'Birthplace for the Future of Mutantkind', and got VERY pissed when he found out Sinister was there messing around with it - Xavier left a mutant capable of altering reality who had SERIOUS psychological problems in an easily breached stasis chamber in a hospital surrounded by dozens of other disabled mutants who were further harmed and killed when he broke out.
I could go on - comics, movies, 90's cartoon, appearances on things like Spider-Man (90's) and Spider-Friends, even Evolution....))

20. Every time you defeat the weakest member of the Evil Overlord's forces, they'll survive to annoy you another day - conversely, when the strongest member fails, the Evil Overlord will kill them himself.

22. Any organization that appears to be united in its cause is secretly divided and at war with itself over methods and idealogy - remember this when choosing allies. (Otherwise known as the 'Inquisitor Rule')

23. Never arrange meetings with allies/contacts in the local slums or at the local docks, it's too cliched and the meeting will always be discovered.

24. Promises made as a child will always be used against you, even if you can't remember who you made the promise to. (the 'Urashima Keitaro Law')

25. Do not blindly follow images of deceased family members, friends, and/or lovers. Odds are they're a trick by the Evil Overlord to make you do what he wants you to do. (The 'Princess Ashe' rule)
26. Well-organised, orderly and trained armies fail. Rag-tag bands of misfits thrown together by circumstance succeed.
27. It doesn't matter how many civilians transports there are, one heroic ship can protect most - if not all - of them. (The 'Galactica' Rule)
28. The only thing more difficult than trying to live up to an ancestor's legend is trying to live up to your own. 28a. Especially when time-travel or stasis are involved. (The 'John Geary' Rule... Has anyone else read Jack Campbell's 'Lost Fleet' series?)
29. 'Please' works wonders. It can save your life. (The 'Dread Pirate Westley' Rule)
30. You can be a mercenary and still be the hero, you just have to find someone willing to pay you to do what you were going to do anyway. (Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, etc.)
