community.livejournal.com/yuyuhakusho/207207.htmlOr: 20th Century Fox has announced, that the rights have been bought to a live action adaption to Yu Yu Hakusho as of early July 2008. Film is planned for a July 2010 release, and actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Megan Fox have been attached to play lead roles of Yusuke Urameshi and Botan.Yusuke will be named Eugene, Botan Charlene. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS WILL BE A VERY HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE THING?!

No... No, you're not...
What? Do they think people won't know how to pronounce "You-skay" and "Bow-tan" and thus need the names to be something MORE complex? Christ, most fifteen to twenty-nine year olds these days have almost as much knowledge of Japanese as they do English!
What's next? Live-Action "Terry Muyo!" or maybe "Randy One-Half"?

What's worse is these are the names they used in the Fillipino dub. -_-
Kurama will be a girl named Denise then changed to a dude named Dennis, Hiei will be Vincent, and Kuwabara will be Alfred if this is true and follows the pattern.
I wish I was kidding.

Well, thinking of Vincent Valentine from FF7, I can see that one for an American Hiei, but the others are still WTF.
Something hit me earlier when I was trying to explain why this is a bad thing to my mother - They're changing the character names from Japanese to English, even easy ones like Hiei and Botan... But it's still going to be YuYu Hakusho as the title.
Does this strike anyone else as someone at Fox needing to lay off the LSD?

Assuming this is true. I've hunted around and the only sources for this are a forum that cites a wiki article and the wiki article which doesn't cite a damned thing.
Still pisses me off.

And, as we all know and loathe, ANYONE can create or edit a Wiki article to say ANYTHING.
