Hey, Amanda... Hetalia Q for you; How are places like the Republic of California, Texas Republic and Hawai'i done in Hetalia since they were independant nations before they became part of the Union? I'm asking cause one of my favorite authors seems to have gotten into Hetalia and wrote a story where everyone's at some kind of shindig and each state has a personification... Hawai'i breaks off to hang with the other Polynesians, Alaska joins Russia's table and Montana and the two Dakotas actually not only remember Canada but hang out with him. www.fanfiction.net/s/6638622/1/ if ya wanna read.

Well, the only one that's ever really been dealt with in canon is Texas, that's America's glasses. Fandom though likes to make up various state-tans like the Nation-tans and have them running about, kinda like that fic's done.
But yeah, just Texas so far. /opens fic for later

Works for me. *Shrugs* I'm in favor of 'state-tans', just for the interactions. Can you imagine the Georgia/Alabama/Florida water dispute or the disagreement between Georgia and Tennessee over the state line in Hetalia form? Speaking of Hetalia... If you like Sealand and such, here's you a country that's not in the canon series, but has interesting potential. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MauritiusAmong other things, it has the claim to (in)fame of being the only home of the Dodo bird before it's extinction, as well as membership in the Commonwealth. Came to my attention when browsing my Story Traffic on FF.net and not recognizing the place, so I looked it up.
