You know, most guys when they hit eighteen might be thinking about cars, or their first legal smoke, or what the girl next door looks like under that swimsuit...

I'm more concerned with dodging bullets and lasers and trying to keep my star-spangled ass alive.

I have to wonder, did Captain America have it this bad? I really should ask him one of these days if I survive long enough. After all, it's his fault I'm in this situation... or is it the Red Skull's? Or my own? Actually, there's probably enough blame to go around.

Cap chose to retire after being found alive in that block of ice. Old Skinless-Skull chose to take G.I. Joe: Frontline as prisoners.

...And I chose to 'borrow' the shield and uniform Cap had left in my care and the incomplete Super-Soldier Formula that S.H.I.E.L.D. had possession of and go after them, and Nick chose to see nothing on the second one.

Or were the events that led to Johnny Freedom's existance even a matter of choice? What if it was fate?

Of course, these days I'm occupied more with Baron Zemo and other villian-type idiots that are trying to make Freedom a memory than with wondering if I was meant to be.

Hmm. I think he could use a better name. "Johnny Insert-A-Pronoun-or-Noun-Here" is rather cliche.

*Shrugs* It's too late to change the name now, he's already made appearences in my stories.

Besides, it's actually a reference to a Johnny Horton song of the same name, "Johnny Freedom"
