Because even though I can do 90% of the job, no problem, I can't meet their stupid 10% Playguard/3% EDRC metrics. (I don't care to waste my time and the customers, for one thing, when I know they don't want it, AND I'm usually stuck dealing with the morons while all the good customers go over to the other clerk.)
Irony? The people they're keeping meet their Metrics, but can't do their jobs half the time.
Further Irony? Amanda's probably going to either be fired or quit, I'm thinking, next to me she has the worse Metrics and hates the job almost as much as I do at times, so they'll either fire her because of metrics or she'll quit in anger when she learns I was fired (Half the time, the only reason either of us bother with that job is because we work together.)...
I'll get flak for not telling her I was fired by calling her or anything, but nowhere NEAR as much as I'm willing to bet she'll give them....

You know, except for the stupidity of the co-workers (Amanda exclusive) - who, from what I gather are all gone anyway, leaving a completely new staff - I rather liked working at Movie Gallery.
Would it surprise anyone that I'm considering putting in a new application to see if I can go back to work there?

Job Hunt 2010 continues...
Got a paper application from Hobby Lobby. Haven't gotten to check Barnes and Noble yet.... everywhere else (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Michael's and Books-A-Million) are digital...
Also thinking of asking my usual gaming store if they need any help next time I'm in there.

Still looking into applying at Pizza Hut... Moreso than before since Meals on Wheels and I are having some disagreements. Oh. Amanda. Stopped by the old Movie Gallery today and took a look around. Well... looked in through the windows, anyway, so I can't be sure what shape the office is in, but... - The shelves are still there (Would have to move some of them around so that we can see down the aisles from the counter so that people can't hide behind them).
- The TVs are gone, but the ceiling mounts are still there, so I don't know how much of the Closed Circuit system's intact.
- The security detectors are still there between the counter and the doorway
- The Drop Box remains, but we'd probably remove it, I think.
- I saw at least one phone, three keyboards, two monitors and a barcode scanner, so if it came with the building, there's the possibility that the computer system might be intact... don't know about the inventory software, though...

I'm not sure yet, but I'm looking into it. There's a sign on the outside of the building with the realtor on it, might call them to find out how much the lease (I believe is what it is) is and see if I can get a look at the inside of the building, see better what's there and what shape it's in.
Part of it depends on how intact the computer system is. If enough's left, hard- and software, we might be able to use the old Movie Gallery inventory system at first, which would cut cost. Otherwise, we'd need the equipment and programs for that.
Like I mentioned, we'd have to do something about those shelves - you remember the 'gallery'? - before we opened so we wouldn't have to shut down later to do it, so that's parts and labor there...
Additionally, we have to finalize our stocking plans beyond simply 'Anime, Manga and Hobby supplies', find suppliers and build up stock so we actually have something to sell when we open. (Assuming, of course, that we're lucky enough to have customers)
Decide store hours and days, possibly hire employees, depending on where the store actually sits we might have to get a business license, utilities, taxes, advertising (including replacing the "Movie Gallery" signage with "Highway 2" signage).
It's almost empty at the moment, but one thing we don't have to worry about is a bank account, I've got a second checking account that we can use as the store's if we need it...
How much would it take? Off-hand guestimate... maintenance, utilities, stock, everything... Probably thirty to fifty thousand, minimum, quite possibly more. I'll know more once I've had a chance to jot down the phone number and call the realtor; check and see if the building is in Varnell city or Whitfield county in regards to utilities, taxes, business license and such. I'll let you know what I find out.
