Humboldt Park, Chicago. Once it was a lush emerald gem in the midst of a charming neighborhood. Now is it an overgrown jungle, filled with lunatics by day and gangsters by night. Even the police find it difficult to stymie the gang menace.
But that isn't stopping four kids from enjoying what precious free time they have in the park. They are willing to fight back against the criminal menace that threatens their playtime. The other kids call them heroes.
The cops call them crazy kids.
The parents call them safty risks.
The bad guys call them LOS DIABLITOS!
EL (Insert Spanish Noun Here) FUERTE: A grotesquely overweight ten-year-old who dons the mask of his favorite luchador whenever he goes outside. (He canges his Lucha name every ten minutes or so.) He could become the strongest, most skilled wrestler ever, if he didn't need to stop every two minutes to catch his breath.
LA BRUJA OCCULA: El (Blank) Fuerte's older sister, who ordered a pair of X-ray goggles from the back of one of his old comic books just to annoy him. The glasses - the last of their kind - are defective, can can do anything BUT see through things. If only she could control what else those glasses can do...
TOOLSHED: An 18-year-old skater boy born into a family of hicks. Toolshed uses his awesome sk8er skillz, and the power tools he stole from his dad's garage of stolen tools, to defend El (Blank) and Bruja from the meanest mofos in Chicago.
MR. BULLHORN (Guess where I got this name from and you get a cookie!): A skinny, hypochondriatic, obsessive-compulsive junior high schooler who patrols the cross walks between his school and the park. When he lacks in muscle, he makes up for in vocal power. With the school's malfuntioning bull horn, his narmal soft voice can become loud enough to create tornados, wake the dead and deafen any who are a threat to him (And everyone is a threat to him.)
Alone, they are freaks. United, they are freaks with power. They are LOS DIABLITOS.
