Kissing in the movies:
I watched "Carman: The Champion" tonight, and the "The Making Of" special feature. The "A Kiss is Just A Kiss" section of the "Making Of" got me thinking;
How do they do it? How do they kiss someone they don't love? How do their husbands/wives/Significant Others deal with it?
In the old days, Gene Autry kissed his horse in his movies because his wife made it clear that she was his wife and he wasn't going to kiss any other woman.
Now, however, we've got kissing scenes, we've got sex scenes, all with two people who are usually neither married or in love, and I don't know how they do it.
I mean, if Hollywood wanted me to do a movie, the only way I'd do it would be to have Jessica as my female co-lead, there is no other way. She's the only person I ever want to kiss, to hug, to make love to...
I guess that's why actors and actresses get paid twenty million bucks a movie, huh?

Mmm, some of it is "stage kissing". Don't know how they do it, but there's often very little lip contact at all, except in close ups.

The Romeo and Juliet types:
What brought this one on? I've been trying (for months) to teach my mother the military alphabet and she called me up today to ask what "J" was. I told her "J is Juliet and R is Romeo, and every Juliet has her Romeo" to help her remember.
My mother replied "And every Romeo has his Juliet."
I signed off and hung up, thinking; Not all lovers are Romeos and Juliets. Take, for example, the two couples here: Jessica and myself, and of course, Amanda and Alex.
Amanda and Alex DO have the conflicting families issue (well, the Capulets of the relationship -Amanda's family- at least...), and the whole "love in an instant" thing, but neither of them fit the Romeo and Juliet type. If they were, Romeo would have escorted Juliet into the Montague living room (grand hall, whatever) and introduced his parents to their new daughter in law after the wedding. But Juliet was nowhere near as forceful as Amanda is (sometimes).
In my and Jessica's case, we don't have the family problems (For one thing, I get along with her father better than I ever did my own.). If we were Romeo and Juliet, Juliet would probably have left town with him when Romeo was banished...
Why do people always want to compare relationships to Romeo and Juliet? They wound up dead, people... Not a good thing to see a relationship as...
So, if not Romeo and Juliet, who should lovers who are made for each other be compared to? Seriously, I'm asking here.

Amanda and Daniel are probably Beauty and the Beast. What do Hank McCoy and the Dazzler have to do with it? *sighs* The DISNEY Beauty and The Beast, not the Marvel one... Oh. ...Which is which? How am I supposed to know? Ok... Then who are we? The Li's. Who? Oh! ...Yeah, I can see that...

Just to add something that recently crossed my mind to J.T.'s little log, I'm one of the lucky ones.
I have a knight in shining armor.
Ok, so he wears fatigues and a beret instead of shining armor, but still...

What does it say for me that, when I saw a "Save Marine Life" ad on FF.Net, my first thought was about the Corps?

And another thing, if I see another one of those damned "Female Surgeon Arrives at the 4077th and starts a relationship with Hawkeye/Trapper/Charles/whoever" fics, I'm gonna SHOOT SOMETHING.
Not that I don't shoot things anyway, as the makeshift indoor target range in the kitchen attest to, but at least it would give me a reason better than Annual Blanket Washing Day.

That's ironic considering you love the "Reunions where Hawkeye and Margaret surprise everyone by being married" and "Margaret arrives in Crabapple Cove Pregnant or with a child and Hawkeye's the father" fics.

You know, from the way Riddler and Two-Face act, and the fact that Two-Face is obsessed with two, I think Riddler's gay and Two-Face bi in Batman Forever...
(I know, strange coming from me, but the fact that I hate this movie probably weights in on this...)
