I'm gonna have to disagree with you on Beauty, Mermaid, and Mulan. First two for the exact reasons you stated and I whoely disagree with the assesment of Mulan as "disobedient".
And I think what Disney is actually trying to say is "Love Conquers All". The question then becomes is "Are they succeding in saying that?"

True - maybe 'Rebellious' would be a better discription.
Logically, if it's easier to see "Change yourself and you'll get the girl/boy" rather than "Love conquers all", then they would be failing, I think.

Yeah, rebelious works better.
And if you think about it, Belle was aready pretty proper; it was Beast that changed in that one. And for the better, I think.
I dunno, I always saw "Love Conquers All", but then I'm an optimistic one when it comes to the content of Disney films. It's Disney rereleases that I'm a cynic about. (IE: We now own THREE copies of Sleeping Beauty. An OLD VHS copy and two DVDs. Apparently mom completely forgot that I asked for it for Christmas years ago.)

Oh, yeah, I feel that one.
Seriously, do they REALLY think I need something like half-a-dozen OR MORE movies/documentaries/whatever about Pearl Harbor? Yes, I know it's World War II. Yes, I know that without Pearl America wouldn't have entered the war like we did...
But for cryin' out loud, no one needs that many movies about one battle for one thing... and for another, I'm not THAT interested in the Pacific Theater - I prefer the North African/Med and European Theaters...
Sorry... Kinda lost it there for a moment. As you can guess, that's a pet peeve of mine since it seems like every birthday and Christmas for the last few years it's been the same thing - Movie about Pearl; more copies of movies I already own; p*ssy-footing around, over-comparison shopping (yes, there is such a thing), and/or simply not buying my 'big' item for the year (So far I'm owed an ATV from three years ago, Trace Adkins concert tickets from two years ago, a 360 and PS3 from last year, etc...)
I mean, I figure I distribute The List every year for a reason, people... (The List - the growing, shrinking, ever changing organic list of what J.T. wants as gifts)
I think that from now on, anything over thirty bucks I'm just going to ask for cash instead...
Dammit, I did it again, went off on a rant. I'd better just post this thing or it'll probably never be finished with all of my digressions...

I don't mind having a VHS copy and a DVD copy of SB, since it's my favorite Disney film, but two DVDs? That's a bit much. Anime I might do two of, just because of Season sets and the like, but that's more in the case of when I lose a disk or something.

Agreed. I don't mind having, for example, Flame of Recca volume one (which I have) and then have the Flame of Recca boxed set (which I don't) since it would let me keep the boxed set on the DVD shelf and drag the single disc off to my room, or have a spare in case I wear out the disc or something...

You ever notice that 'Proposal' has a good connotation and 'Proposition' has a bad one, but they have the same meaning - an idea or plan being offered, in this case entering into a relationship or changing levels in an already existing one - what's up with that?

Interesting fact...
Having multiple wives or husbands is bigamy/polygamy, which is illegal...
But the exact same people can live together as boyfriends and/or girlfriends and, as long as they aren't introduced as husband and/or wife, that's not illegal...
Is it just me, or is this somewhat screwed up?
