January ninth, 1969, a man named Red Skelton first delivered a monolouge regarding the Pledge of Allegiance (This monolouge is now being displayed on the news fader).
In it, he talked about how since he was a child and first had the Pledge explained to him in that manner, two states (Alaska and Hawaii) had joined the Union and two words, "Under God" had been added to the pledge.
Red Skelton finished his monolouge by saying, "Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer, and that would be eliminated from schools, too?"
Everyone, Mr. Red Skelton, who over thirty years ago foresaw what is now happening today with people wanting to ban a pledge of allegiance to one's country from school, taking away some of the little patriotism schoolchildren are taught, because we are "one nation, under God" and state so in the Pledge, which while admitting that freedom of beliefs exists, freely announced why we are and have remained one nation...
"UNDER GOD."

From what I've heard, I'm fairly good at not allowing my opinions of people to be influenced by the opinions of others...
That said, Amanda's parents, upon having met them, are two of the biggest assholes it has ever been my displeasure to come in contact with.
About an hour ago, I recieved a desperate call from Amanda, appearantly Yolanda's mother had gotten their phone bill and there were a... number of calls to an Illinois number on it. She called Amanda's house.
Amanda was at work.
Her parents were home.
I know because when Amanda called, I screwed up and didn't pay attention to the phone number and went to her house, where they were, instead of to Movie Gallery, where she was. Now I'll admit, I've dealt with some hostile people on occasion, but very few put me in 'fight mode' like those two did. You know, if you're gonna interrogate someone, you need to at least try to be a LITTLE subtle...
*Scoffs* Can't help her because I'm 'one weird kid' indeed! (Which is what Amanda said they said when she called me a second time, informing me of my mistake.)
When I arrived at Movie Gallery, it was basically a face-off between me and her father, in which he also learned that I have, on occasion, driven Amanda to Yolanda's house...
Normally I'm not a worrier, but after tonight, I am officially worried about her and the situation she is in.
Daniel, I suggest you start preparing an extra bedroom, just in case...

That's the worst part about getting older; people you grew up with (even actors and the characters they played) get older too and eventually they die...
It sucks. It's unfair. It seems like with each of them part of whatever remains of your youth dies as well.
It's life...

Bad News...
Monday, Febuary 27, 2006, we will be saying 'Abyssina' to a series that has entertained us for two years and will now be going off the air. The 20:00 (8 pm) showing of Monster House will be its final episode as 'the team builds one last house for Steve "Tombstone" Sterle.'...

Same as JT's: not bad but sad.
Legendary test pilot Scott Crossfield, twice holder of the title "Fastest Man Alive", died Wednesday when his single-engine plane crashed in Georgia. He was 84.
Fifty-three years ago, Crossfield piloted the Douglas D-558-II Skyrocket to just better than Mach 2, and was North American Aviation's chief test pilot on the record breaking X-15 before it was turned over to NASA.
Crossfield also served for five years as System Director responsible for systems test, reliability engineering, and quality assurance for North American Aviation on the Hound Dog missile, Paraglider, Apollo Command and Service Module, and the Saturn V second stage. Then from 1966 to 1967 he served as Technical Director, Research Engineering and Test at North American Aviation.
Crossfield served as an executive for Eastern Airlines from 1967 to 1973. Then from 1974 to 1975, he was Senior Vice President for Hawker Siddley Aviation, setting up its U.S. subsidiary for design, support, and marketing of the HS-146 transport in North America. From 1977 until his retirement in 1993, he served as technical consultant to the House Committee on Science and Technology, advising committee members on matters relating to civil aviation.
He was one of a rare breed, and will be missed.

July 4th, 2K6:
N. Korea test fires three nukes. Two short rangers (Fell into Sea of Japan), one long ranger (Failed fifty seconds into flight).
Hey, like several people have said, nothing from N. Korea works, right?

Two things: One: WELCOME BACK!! Two, not nukes (though all could be armed with nukes), just missles. SCUDS (Saw how well they worked in Gulf War I, didn't we?) and their ICBM (InterContinental Balistic Missle) the Taepodong (sp?). Launching on July the 4th was a nice touch too, Lil' Kim. And I wonder what caused the missle to fail? Anti-missle missles from a warship (we have them, and they work) or the anti-missle laser mounted to a 747 we're working on?

Like El'hir said, they were made in N. Korea.
Thanks, good to be back.

You should see the hotel in the capital city. Big concrete pyramid; highest hotel in the world. They just forgot to add elevators to the design. And then they ran out of money before it was finished...

Not bad, just annoying: Amanda's mother will be home and DSC is closed this week, so Amanda won't be online this week...
