I know, it's been driving me CRAZY...
I'm about two days away from admitting myself into the Padded Cell and finding out what in the name of Georgie Patton happened...

And is usually the case, once I complain about something, it's taken care of.

U.S. Satellite out of control.A large U.S. spy satellite has lost power and propulsion and could hit the Earth in late February or March, government officials said Saturday. Seriously, unless you're right under where it lands, you're in more danger from the idiot in the Suburban while on her cell phone and doing her makeup . The satellite, which no longer can be controlled, could contain hazardous materials, and it is unknown where on the planet it might come down, they said. ;D Road trip!! The video goes on You Tube, the parts go on my shelf. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is classified as secret. So it gets published for the whole world to see, and the leaker gets away with it... "Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation," said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council.
"Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause." Wait, how'd a calm, rational thought get into this panic-starter? Is the AP losing it's touch? He would not comment on whether it is possible for the satellite to be perhaps shot down by a missile. He said it would be inappropriate to discuss any specifics at this time. Since the only test of an American ASAT was during the Reagan administration, unless we ask the ChiComs nicely, the answer is "No". Seriously, this is as bad as the stories on the asteroid that was supposed to hit Mars. It's not even informed speculation, this is Tinfoil Hat Class BS.

To be aired on the Discovery Channel on Sunday, Febuary 17th (at 9, I believe)...
"Dinosaurs: Return to Life?"
The premise? Studying the concept of using DNA engineering to recreate dinosaurs.
J.T.'s response? "Dear GOD, did you people NOT LEARN FROM 'JURASSIC PARK'?"

Update to the "Sky is Falling!!!!!111" panic: USAF SpaceCom (whatever they now call themselves, I like that title) has confirmed a NRO satellite launched in December '06 failed after launch and will be returning to Earth, more than likely somewhere in North America, sometime in the latter half of March. The sat, called variously USA-193 and NROL-21, was most likely an E-305 Radarsat, designed as a follow-on to the Lacross type. USA-193 failed after launch, likely due to a failure to deploy it's solar panels, due to either an on-board computer malfunction or the auxiliary battery not being able to deploy said sails. Expect more panic-mongering as the drop date approaches! Look to the skies! Death from on high!!!!!!11111 /sarc
