I wonder if it would be possible to nominate a fictional character for honorary membership in the Literati Club...

Everyone knows about the whole 'Thirty pieces of Silver for traitors' thing from the Bible, right? (Book of Matthew, I think it is)
Something occurred to me; considering the difference in value of currency, et. al. which do you think would be considered the important part; the total value of the silver or the number of pieces?

Fifteen months and I finally finished the damned thing... maybe now some people will shut up...
Probably not, they'll just move on to bugging me for the next chapter...

J.T.'s five favorite James Bond kills. 1. "That's a Smith & Wesson - and you've had your six." - Doctor No, Sean Connery. 2. "I never miss." - The World Is Not Enough, Pierce Brosnan 3. "Considerably." - Casino Royale, Daniel Craig. 4. Blofield's death, (Where Bond dropped him down the chimney and into an industrial incinerator for killing his wife.) 5. The one where Bond has the guy suspended over his own shark tank and then throws the suitcase of money into his chest, knocking him into the tank, for what he did to one of Bond's friends (Don't remember movie or Bond...)

Lava Fissure
8704
The project base is a CD with a piece of floral foam glued to it and shaped. The lava itself was candle was melted and poured into a crevice in the floral foam and allowed to flow down the side. The lava was then basecoated with Citadel Foundation Mechanicus Red and worked inward through 'Dark Flesh' and "Scorched Brown" Citadel Colors to "Chaos Black" for the lower, cooler parts, while worked in through various shades of orange, yellow and off-whites in the caldera itself.
The volcanic rock around the fissure itself was textured with a mix of dirt and PVA, then painted grey.
The 'natural' rock areas were covered with ballast and then painted Dark Flesh. The large rock is a driveway rock painted Scorched Brown and then highlighted Dark Flesh at the edges.
The vegetated areas were basecoated with a paint called 'Outpost' that similar in color to GW's 'Vermin Brown', then flocked with tea and various flocks.

Bromeliads... In The Swamp
8730
Bromeliads are a family of plant that species can be found almost anywhere within the western hemisphere's tropic zone, from deserts to mountains to, of course, swamps. You're probably familiar with two of those species already, even if you didn't know it; the pineapple and Spanish moss are both part of the Bromeliad family.
Now, I present to you... "Bromeliads... In The Swamp".
The Bromeliads themselves are created by taking a pencil sharpener and 'sharpening' pieces of sprue. The plastic shavings curled up into rather nice looking plants that, once the bottom was trimmed to provide a flat area to glue to the base, work almost anywhere.
The rocky outcroppings are floral foam lightly coated with mixtures of tea and glue, coffee and glue and dirt and glue, respectively - all painted Games Workshop "Scorched Brown."
The ground areas are just simply tea glued to the bases. For the far side of the tree, this was actually done in several layers to make a nice thick ground area. The two grassy areas on the tree half are Fine Turf Green Grass, while the moss is Coarse Turf.
The tree itself is simply a stick, broken to size and then artifically aged with a wash of Scorched Brown and a drybrushing of Bleached Bone to make it look like it's not freshly fallen.
The Bromeliads, as mentioned, are sprue shavings. The outsides have been painted Dark Angels Green and the insides are Camo Green, with Liche Purple painted on the tips of the leaves.
If you notice a difference between the water areas on the two halves, that's because with the rocky half, I tried wax-based water, but it didn't turn out right, so on the Tree Half, I just painted my 'Murky Swamp' mixture directly onto the CD instead of trying to pour wax and paint that. Murky Swamp is a mixture of Vallejo Scorpion Green, GW Ice Blue, Dark Flesh and a touch of Scorched Brown.

I just had this mental image of the Extended MMPR Theme ( the full three or four minute version) with PRL characters...
And when it gets to the line about "They know to only use their weapons for defense"... show Amanda's Spiritzord stepping on 'normal' sized Hardshells.

.... When it rains, it goesn't just friggin' pour - it downright floods.
I'm playing Champions Online, right? First - a friggin' in-game pop-up telling me shit I already know... because it's on the DAMN WEBSITE! AND IT WON'T GO AWAY! Every time I think it's gone, I click somewhere else on the screen and it's back again trying to tell me shit I already know!
Actually, that was second.
First is that I zone into the... third area in the game, my game camera goes tits-up and just starts spinning around for NO FREAKING REASON! I have to quit the game and reload to get it to stop.
Then, the 'help' pop-up. Seriously does anyone ever actually read in-game 'help' pop-ups? NO, THEY DO NOT.
Next, I go to the next area, upgrade my character and try to return to the previous screen to get my next mission. The friggin' game crashes.
I reload. It crashes.
I shut it all down, restart the game completely, IT FRIGGIN' CRASHES AGAIN!
I"VE BARELY MADE IT OUT OF THE TUTORIAL!
And life gets 'better'. I was planning to go to McKay's tomorrow, trade in some movies and games... Friggin' Mother decides that we need to stay home to conserve gasoline in the car until she can get it filled up in Dalton Wednesday, assuming prices remain constant... INSTEAD OF JUST PAYING THE TWO EXTRA FREAKIN' CENTS AND FILLING UP IN CHATTANOOGA AND LETTING ME GO TO THE BOOKSTORE!
Besides which, follow this conversation;
"Long Grain rice, right?" "Converted Long Grain rice."
Now, with the fact that she specified Converted, which do you think is the important part; 'Converted' or 'Long Grain'?
If you answered 'Converted', you're like me and guess what? They had no 'Converted Long Grain', so I bought 'Converted Rice', and she fusses and fumes and bitches that I should've bought regular 'Long Grain Rice'. "GOOD GOD! Why should they mock poor fellows so!"
I have had a long, stressful and emotionally tiring day...

Forgive me if I rant a moment... AUGH, some people just annoy me to the point of having SUCH a headache... Whether they're in the summary or Fanfiction's own system, tags for things like characters and pairings exist for a REASON! If people don't like certain characters or pairings, and a story is clearly marked to contain them, it's entirely possible for them to not read it. I know it's possible, I do it all the time.. To read a story clearly tagged to have a specific pairing or a negative opinion of a character and then complain about it being there just... AUGH!

Anyone care to guess what the worst part about beating a video game is?
Correct, it's that feeling of listlessness and drifting once the adrenal-high of victory wears off and you start wondering 'so, what do I do now?'
The Trio of 9999/Blitz Ace/Attack Reels/Magic Fury trick for FFX works alright - almost too well. With a little variation (Grand Summon Bahamut, mostly), I was able to tear through the majority of the final bosses in FFX... And now, I find myself asking myself 'what's next?'
Never thought I would say this, not really, but I think I need to find something to play beside Final Fantasy games. Star Trek Online is good, but similar in formula (even if it keeps growing - a little too fast sometimes - the storyline missions mostly remain the same per faction and I've pretty much played them all except for the revamped Romulan Mystery arc for Starfleet and the last few missions of the Delta Quadrant arc cross-faction); Battlestar Galactica Online is just too repetitive - I like the ships, love the ships, but the assignments started to wear after a while...
And most of my best games are PS3 and I still don't have a replacement for that yet. That really only leaves me a few options - Lego Batman (the first one), Mercenaries, The Godfather (which isn't as fun after playing Don's Edition), and Tactics Ogre (which is a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics)... or hit McKay's and hope to find something new that catches my eyes...
I just don't know right now, not really...

I just watched the episode of "Dilbert" where they create a fake employee so they can store old equipment in 'his' cubicle - except first he ends up promoted over them and then they end up arrest for trying to get rid of 'him' so things will go back the way they were...
Reminds me somewhat of MASH, 'Tuttle'...
New Law!
Magnus' Laws; The 'Tuttle' Law - don't create fake people, it ends up being more trouble than it solves when people start wanting to meet them, promote them or 'kill' them.

I probably shouldn't have introduced Johnnie to 'The Game of Thrones'; he's getting ideas from 'The Rains of Castamere'...

Has anyone else watched "Leverage"? It's a great show in the similar vein as Mission: Impossible and A-Team. My favorite character would have to be Parker. It's creepy, really - she's got my attitude, looks a little like Jessica and even has her last name...
Except for the hair.
I still say that somehow I blame the blonde hair on Amanda, Love.

May sound a little offensive, but bare with me on this...
Klingons, especially TNG/DS9 era, have dark skin, long hair - often in dreadlocks, right? I had this sudden thought of them being 'Space Jamaicans', 'Alien Rastafari', and the reason they're always so angry and ready to fight is because they have no weed...

Interesting thoughts that occurred to me tonight - "Fantasy Island" and "Star Trek" are tightly bound.
The original 'Fantasy Island' starred Ricardo Montablan as The Host, he also (perhaps more famously, to some) played Khan Noonien Singh on Star Trek (TOS "Space Seed" and the movie "Wrath of Khan"). In the remake, however, The Host was played by Malcolm McDowell who also played a Star Trek villian - even more ironically, one that, like Khan, didn't really see himself as a villain (and those are sometimes the best kind...) - when he played Dr. Tolen Soren in the movie "Generations"...
